Policy

As your Council Member, I will:

  • Work to protect just-cause eviction laws, and ensure that renters are not vulnerable to unjust rent hikes or harassment by landlords.

  • Increase funding to repair and maintain public housing, ensuring that all New Yorkers, particularly those in NYCHA developments, live in modern, safe, and habitable conditions.

  • Advocate for the use of publicly owned land to build affordable housing for seniors, families, and essential workers.

  • Fight for more affordable senior housing options and other affordable housing options by securing investment allocated from “City of Yes”.

  • Expand the department of buildings by drawing funding from both city and state budgets to ensure that affordable housing projects are prioritized and fast-tracked.

  • Engage with residents, local organizations to create a community-driven vision for affordable housing, ensuring that new developments reflect the needs of the people.

Affordable Housing

New Yorkers deserve homes they can afford, and I’m committed to making that a reality. New York City is in the midst of an affordability crisis, and it’s rapidly pushing families, seniors, and essential workers out of the neighborhoods that have always made this city vibrant and diverse. The heart of our city is in our district, and we must protect the people who keep it running—those who live and work here every day.

We cannot continue to let rent prices soar while public housing decays and affordable options disappear. We need to build as many units as possible—more units mean more choices for New Yorkers at every income level. As a City Council Member, I will fight for bold, transformative solutions to restore affordability, protect tenants, and ensure that our city remains a place where everyone can live, work, and thrive.

I won’t stop until we create a city where no one is pushed out, and where families of all kinds can stay in the neighborhoods they call home.
